Review: Carrie's Lingerie, Vanity Mini-Collection in Blue

Once upon a time...

There was a young girl, and an evil queen.  The evil queen though herself the most beautiful of all in the land, until one day she heard of another, the young girl.  In a fit of Vanity, the evil queen sent out Seven Deadly Sins to the girl's seven friends, who then became embodiments of these qualities.  In desperation, the girl ran to the forest to save her friends, and finally became a victim to the evil queen's final trap...

Carrie Bridger, owner and chief designer for Carrie's Lingerie, contacted me this morning to request something special.  Along with this request came a copy of one of the lingerie ensembles from a mini-collection based on the Seven Deadly Sins.  Being a long time customer of the store, I immediately accepted the offer, though I am placing my bias in favor of her creations aside for this post.  The original ensemble piece that this is based off of is available at her store, along with pieces from collaborating artists.  The original set for the Seven Deadly Sins is actually seven different lingerie ensembles in different colors, themed to each of the seven deadly sins.  Along with this, Ms. Bridger collaborated with other artists in SL to create jewelry, hair, skin, makeup, and even poses, which are all available at the Carrie's Lingerie Mainstore.  Mom actually already owned the original Vanity as well as the corresponding jewelry set by Zuri Rayna.  Mom was already very much impressed by the outfit and enjoys flaunting it when she can, and she says it's a great way to distract my father from his work.  The original comes with the sleeves, skirt, stockings, panties, garter belt, and bra; the jewelry is completely separate.

The mini-collection is just as good as the main item itself if not better, because it gives a woman on a budget the option of owning a fine couture lingerie ensemble for a lot less as well as allowing a woman to pick and choose which colors she wants.  Mom paid L$575 for the original ensemble and L$749 for the corresponding jewelry.  This mini-collection ensemble, available in a choice of several colors, sell for L$425, which is a lot easier for something so nice.  The mini-collection does not come with the sleeves or skirt, but honestly, you do not need it for this at all - the detail of the lace is exquisite, stretches well over curves, and is honestly perfect.  Carrie selected a color that would compliment my styling (burgundy hair from Truth and nougat skin from Chaisuki) before she contacted me.  Thank you Carrie for making such a brilliant ensemble!

This blog is really a team effort - and my editor (Mom) and photographer (our neighbor) were here in my office in real world when I got this.  Immediately they started running ideas back and forth, when Mom made an observation - part of why this outfit is so perfect is because it takes the foundation of Second Life clothing and perfects it.  There are no prim attachments, no flexi-prims, no sculpts, no mesh.  It's just exquisite texturing applied in a graphics program.  An added bonus to an article of clothing in SL being made from textures only is that the clothing will fit no matter what, something that most women only dream of.

In a day where all of the designers and customers are rushing to adopt to mesh, because we are all being told it is the newest thing, here Ms. Bridger is taking a step back to the original drawing board.  By stepping back from the newer technology, Ms. Bridger is becoming a revolutionary in the couture lingerie market.  You don't need fancy attachments to make an outfit look good - you just need the best texture possible applied correctly to the SL clothing templates.  Ms. Bridger is a real artist in Second Life, and I think a lot of designers could learn from her.  SL Fashion does not always need the newest technology to be beautiful - it just needs talent, hard work, determination, and artistry.

There are so many clothing options out there for women, and it is very refreshing to see an old-school SL clothing artist still being successful at working with the foundation of the industry in world.  The colors on all of her work are perfect, the textures are always perfect.  When Ms. Bridger does use a prim attachment, it is not because she is trying to sell something but because it is honestly what is needed for the clothing at that time.  Looks at these outfits, Mom in the original Vanity in purple and me in the mini-collection in blue, and it's easy to see a true artist doing what she does best.

This mini-collection is perfect.  There is nothing really to add to it, other than maybe if Ms. Bridger to branch into shoes, whether by making them or collaborating with a designer.  I would recommend this or any of her other products to any woman in SL looking for lingerie, and because of so many options, I would recommend this first.
